Position Summary:

The Email & SMS Marketing Specialist’s responsibilities will be to manage all communication with Tactics’ customers who have opted into Email and SMS communication. Working on the Marketing team and alongside the Digital Marketing Manager, this is a great opportunity to make a large impact from the outset by supporting our marketing efforts through Email & SMS. This individual will collaborate with our design, branding, and merchandising teams to ensure the right content is shot, produced, and utilized for Email/SMS campaigns specifically. The primary focus of this role will be on customer lifetime value by focusing on engagement, retention, and conversion. The success of this role will require strong analytical skills, creative writing, being organized, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment where things are constantly changing.

The role carries a significant amount of responsibility as the gatekeeper for customer & subscriber inbox experience. In turn, it offers a unique opportunity to influence and impact Tactics continued growth and expansions.


  • Grow email and SMS channel revenue
  • Manage campaign set up & deployment for email and SMS platforms
  • Create personalized messages, subject lines, copy, & variations of campaigns across segments to increase overall email/SMS engagement
  • Strategize with Digital Marketing Manager to identify gaps in retention in order to develop campaigns & strategies to build increased repeat purchase and customer LTV.
  • Manage all projects within the areas of the customer journey pertaining to email and SMS marketing including flows/automation, daily and weekly campaign deployment, acquisition strategies, and retention analysis.
  • Communicate with cross-functional teams including merchandising, marketing, creative, and branding to ensure email/SMS projects are completed on time and align with department goals and brand voice.
  • Create innovative & personalized segmentation strategies to drive engagement and build brand loyalty.
  • Optimize campaign performance with A/B testing and analysis of campaign analytics.
  • Analyze data regularly and create strategy recommendations to improve channel performance.
  • Manage, monitor, and ensure high deliverability rates.
  • Conduct industry research and competitive analysis; assist in setting KPI benchmarks.
  • Provide feedback to creative, marketing & merchandise teams with performance results and ideas to leverage new strategies to increase engagement and grow email/SMS traffic & revenue.
  • Manage email and SMS service provider relationships.
  • Report on content and channel performance along with strategy improvement recommendations.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of email and SMS best practices including deliverability, personalization, segmentation, testing, and reporting.
  • A strong interest in creating a lifecycle experience leveraging the right channel at the right time.
  • An understanding of e-commerce customer lifecycles, specifically with retention and loyalty.
  • Must be able to develop content independently as well as effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven track record of success with lifecycle marketing.
  • A long-standing passion for skateboarding and/or snowboarding is a plus.
  • Experience aligning brand, voice, and tone with written content.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Able to manage a variety of priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS.

Experience and Education:

  • 2-3 years of working experience in CRM, SMS, and email marketing
  • A Bachelors degree in a related field is preferred
  • Experience with email and SMS marketing platforms is a must
  • Experience with Bluecore is a plus
