How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)

Delta Marketing is looking for an Email Developer who is passionate about creating dynamic emails that drive campaign goals and desired outcomes for Delta's Marketing and Transactional initiatives. Through code, this role will help turn data into one-to-one personalized experiences that elevate the brand and support key business goals.

Day-to-day, this role will be responsible for building and maintaining a variety of email campaigns with a focus on complex emails that require AmpScript to process and refine data as well as power unique customer experiences - both in the images and copy. They will also help us to update and evolve Delta's Transactional Emails through the use of advanced coding and looping data. Additionally, they will own and maintain Delta's modular email templates, proactively finding opportunities to enhance and/or expand the current portfolio.

In this role, we are looking for a developer who can help us take Delta's email experience to the next level. Someone who loves to ideate and present solutions for opportunities they see, or questions and/or requests brought forth by stakeholders. This applies to opportunities to extend the experience and data capture to landing pages and other digital channels beyond email as well.

As a technical email lead on the Marketing Operations Team, this role will help to continuously open our eyes to the world of what's possible. They will find opportunities to breakdown complex solutions for teammates to learn from and also help to build-up other’s expertise. A willingness to geek-out about email and knowledge share with enthusiasm is key.

Additionally, the Senior Email Developer will help to lead Delta's email accessibility guidelines and best practices, ensuring we're creating the emails that can be accessed by all of our customers. They will champion new ideas and suggestions based on trends or new technologies and help to evangelize the nature of the updates and importance.

Primary Functions:

  • Maintain email templates across marketing and transactional emails in Salesforce Marketing Cloud
  • Build new emails using existing templates quickly and efficiently on a day to day basis
  • Create new html coded blocks as needed
  • Test and troubleshoot emails using Inbox Monster and Litmus
  • Assist email leads with any issues with coding or rendering
  • Support API processed data into email content
  • Support MovableInk content both in Salesforce and MovableInk platform
  • Work closely with in house brand team to ensure built copy and assets work in email
  • Work in other tools within Salesforce Marketing cloud such as Journey and A/B testing
  • Help to implement new software tools as needed
  • Maintain account best practices and make recommendations for improvements as needed
  • Build, test, and troubleshoot cloud pages in Salesforce Marketing Cloud
  • Document processes as needed, and keep documents up to date

What You Need To Succeed (minimum Qualifications)

  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated HTML, Javascript, and CSS coding experience, specifically for the development of HTML emails.
  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) including but not limited to AmpScript, email personalization, Dynamic Content, Cloud Pages, and Journey Builder.
  • Create and maintain error-free, complex, and customized emails and landing pages that render across all email clients and browsers.
  • Maintain, evolve, and expand Delta's modular email template code base.
  • Convert mockups to HTML email, leveraging Delta's brand guidelines and modular templates.
  • Program dynamic, data-driven emails and landing pages.
  • Collaborate with IT, Marketing, and Salesforce Success teams to troubleshoot system errors, provide user support, and help inform product enhancement requests.
  • Integrate Marketing Cloud with internal and external systems - leveraging APIs, custom integrations, and out-of-the-box integrations as needed.
  • In-depth knowledge of email accessibility best practices and desire to be an accessibility champion ensuring Delta is a leader in the space.
  • Identify and recommend coding standards and improvements.
  • Experience effectively handling multiple assignments in a fast-moving and deadline-drive environment.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand needs, share drafts, make updates, and finalize for deployment.
  • Experience with PhotoShop and ability to support image or graphic changes.
  • Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for U.S.-based job, if not currently employed by Delta Air Lines, Inc.
