At Samotics, we develop AI-based analytics for industrial machinery. Our marketing team is looking for a talented, commercially minded data & automation specialist to own our marketing automation & analytics.

What you’ll do

  • Drive our data-driven efforts. You’ll be the cornerstone in our quest to be fully data-driven. You will pull and analyze relevant data, setup reporting, and automate campaigns. You’ll work with our website owner, performance marketer, social media manager, content strategist and head of marketing to continually define testable hypotheses, then set up a flexible data architecture drawing on the best mix of tools, systems and/or platforms to capture, process and present the required data.
  • Increase our data quality and availability. You’ll identify the gaps in our available data, then propose initiatives to fill them. You’ll create and capture data to track multi-channel touchpoints over time, connecting and triangulating data sets from various sources (e.g. Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, HubSpot, etc.). You’ll apply rigorous data quality testing & cleaning methods, spot and understand the drivers behind differences and irregularities, and propose and execute actions to clean the data. You’ll ensure that we maintain one single, high-quality source of truth for all our data, with a clear structure and full source traceability.
  • Perform our marketing analytics & recommend next actions. You’ll analyze the cleaned and structured data against our hypotheses, then distill the results into regular reports that tell the rest of the team exactly what we should start, stop or continue doing. Your analyses will provide vital data-driven direction for all of our marketing work, from scoring leads, providing personalized lead nurture, segmenting audiences and targeting key personas to prioritizing tasks and managing workloads, setting quarterly objectives & key results, and refining our content strategy.
  • Manage our marketing automation. We currently use HubSpot to automate our nurture flow emails; you’ll identify additional marketing tasks that would benefit from automation, then work with our head of marketing to select, deploy and use the right platform(s). You’ll set up automated A/B testing and advanced tracking to provide insights into lead and visitor interactions, and use these to automatically segment visitors and to provide a personalized experience across all our channels, automatically presenting each lead with relevant tailored content. You’ll also identify where automating our internal processes will make us more effective, then make it happen.

What We Offer

  • A competitive salary
  • A brand-new, custom-designed office (with 90% recycled materials) at a three-minute walk from Leiden Central Station
  • Access to a wide range of learning programs
  • Generous parental leave
  • Daily fresh lunches and healthy snacks when working in the office
  • A fun and professional company culture based on the principle of freedom and responsibility
  • The chance to work on cutting-edge technology that has the potential to reduce global energy consumption by 10%

What we’re looking for

  • Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills. You’ll be the analytical center around which our marketing strategy revolves, so we’re counting on you to turn mountains of chaotic data into clear patterns that answer all our questions.
  • Excellent written and spoken English. Most of our customers (and many of our employees) don’t speak Dutch, so English is our official company language. You’ll be expected to present, document and discuss all your work in clear, accessible English.
  • The ability to rapidly iterate. We work in continuous data-driven improvement cycles, where we formulate hypotheses, gather data, analyze it, accept or reject our hypotheses, recommend next actions, and start the next iteration in short sprints.
  • Skill in summarizing and presenting data to commercial stakeholders in visually appealing, informative reports and presentations. Your recommendations will drive the whole marketing team’s direction, so regularly making & communicating targeted analyses to your non-technical peers has to be something you enjoy and do well. We’re looking for strong written and verbal communication skills, expertise in data manipulation and visualization, and a strong eye for detail.
  • 2+ years of directly relevant experience. We’d like to see prior data automation & analysis work in a commercial setting (e.g. multivariate & A/B testing to support conversion rate optimization), and experience with marketing-related analysis, visualization and automation tools (e.g. HubSpot, Google Analytics, PowerBI, Excel, etc.).
  • A strong sense of ownership and project management skills. We’re looking for someone with an intrinsic motivation to get the data right, plus the ability to consistently produce high-quality end deliverables on time. You should excel at prioritizing tasks, planning your workload and managing your time.
  • A proactive personality. Our company culture is built around freedom and teamwork. We’ll count on you to identify important balls, then pick them up and run with them, pulling in teammates as you need them. Add to that an unquenchable thirst for knowledge that means you’ll constantly be reading, learning and trying new things to keep us on the cutting edge of marketing automation & analytics.

To That End

You’ll notice we aren’t requiring specific degrees. We understand that there are many ways to develop expertise, and that amazing talent often strays from the traditional path. So we’ll judge your fitness for this role based on what you show us in the application process.

  • Submit your CV and a cover letter. These are your first test, so make sure you highlight how you meet the role’s requirements.
  • If we like what we see, we’ll invite you for an interview.
  • If the interview goes well, we’ll make you an offer.

We look forward to hearing from you!
