Salesforce Marketing Cloud Email Specialist

Working as part of the wider digital team, you'll be tasked with leading and optimizing email marketing efforts as well as marketing-automations. In addition, you'll be tasked with combining data, industry best practices and experience to build effective strategies and tactics for reaching the intended customer segments with the right message at the right time. 

The Manager of Email Marketing should be experienced with working in the Salesforce Marketing Cloud (or ExactTarget). The role will develop and deliver brand-specific emails, SMS, and end-to-end journeys. And will partner with internal stakeholders to create data-driven strategies that increase sales.  

The ideal candidate is a goal-oriented email marketing professional and self-starter, who thrives in a fast-paced team environment and has a desire and aptitude to learn the direct sales business.  


  • Primarily responsible for defining and executing the strategy for email and SMS marketing efforts. 
  • Drive the company's reach through acquisition, retention, transactional, and customer onboarding initiatives.  
  • Works closely with cross-functional teams such as Sales, Product Marketing, Events, and eCommerce to create, execute, and measure integrated email programs to drive the business.  
  • Refine customer segmentation strategies and enhance targeting based on data-driven results.  
  • Manage external partner relationships and project roadmaps related to supporting and optimizing SFMC and related email features and campaigns 
  • Ability to innovate and drive efficiencies that increases consumer impact  
  • Partner with marketing leads to develop list criteria/segmentation requirements for campaigns to reduce operational timeliness and increase efficiency.  
  • Conceptualize and initiate tests to continually improve key metrics across communication programs 
  • Develop Google Analytics dashboards and analyze campaign metrics to drive day-to-day business decisions and determine future initiatives.  
  • Identify and deliver process improvements to increase speed to market.  
  • Partner with eCommerce and CX teams to identify and develop best-in-class customer communication programs.  

What We Look for in a Candidate 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and related experience 6+ years related experience  
  • 5+ years managing Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and/or Exact Target, or equivalent enterprise email marketing platform 
  • Great understanding of email marketing best practices - cadences, strategies, creative, etc. 
  • Ability to review and analyze the analytics of multiple email campaigns and journeys, and make recommendations to optimize performance 
  • Excellent project management skills. Ability to manage both creative requirements and operational needs.  
  • Experience analyzing and reporting on campaign performance and using A/B/n testing to improve sales and engagement objectives continuously.  
  • While this is not a copywriting position, the ability to evaluate and suggest engaging copy that will help reach campaign objectives is highly desired 
  • While this is not a design or creative role, the position is expected to know best practices for email design and layout, and make recommendations that will improve email effectiveness and performance. 
  • Experience using and implementing Google Analytics tracking in Salesforce Marketing Cloud  
  • Experience working with internal business partners and outside consultants  
  • Experience using Datoramma is a plus 
  • Experience leading and setting tasks for a small team of email coordinators 
  • Experience managing the request, review, build, test and publish workflows for emails, SMS communications, and platform enhancements 
  • Experience managing email communications and project calendar. 
  • Comfortable working with HTML, CSS and Ampscript to support the building and test of new emails 
  • Experience working with direct sales organizations is a preferred by not required 
  • Salesforce Certified Marketing Cloud Email Specialist Certification Preferred  
  • Experience with enterprise project management tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Workfront and/or Asana
