JOB TITLE: Email Marketing Specialist


REPORTS TO: Manager, Email & Social Media Marketing


JOB SUMMARY: 

The Email Marketing Specialist will develop and implement e-mail marketing assets, such as creative and content, for Barnes & Noble College. To develop this content, the Email Marketing Specialist will work closely with the Email Marketing Manager, general merchandise teams and store managers (for local requests). This role will manage the execution of email sends, email testing, database maintenance, data entry and will assist in copy writing and data analysis. They will be heavily involved in email acquisition efforts and campaigns, including list acquisition from campus partners. Key areas of focus will be Textbooks, New Student Orientation, General Merchandise, Parents, Graduation, Alumni marketing and Athletics marketing.  


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

  • Coordinates the development of email assets for the following business units:
  • General Merchandise (Café, Convenience, Spirit Apparel, Technology, and Trade)
  • Textbook Marketing (i.e. Rush & Buyback)
  • Alumni Marketing
  • Freshman and Parent Marketing
  • Athletics Marketing
  • Research & Insights
  • Work with marketing team to execute email strategy
  • Execute, test, and send emails to subscribers at more than 700 store locations
  • Maintain and update email database and spreadsheet management
  • Coordinate content for email sends for local store requests
  • Work with external vendors such as our Email Service Provider
  • Produce marketing copy for email campaigns
  • Execute email acquisition campaigns and manage list acquisition and tracking
  • Additional responsibilities as required
  • Complies at all times with the Standards, Policies and Code of Business Conduct and Ethics as outlined in the Employee Handbook


REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Minimum 3-6 years email marketing experience
  • Strong writing skills
  • Experience managing a high volume of email campaigns, acquisition efforts, and a database of millions of subscribers
  • Analytical mindset and proven ability in data analysis, entry and spreadsheet management experience; strong MS Excel skills required.
  • Ability to problem solve and improve efficiencies by analyzing campaign outcomes
  • Some Adobe Photoshop skills
  • Strong customer service, communication and time management skills
  • Attention to detail and strong organization skills
  • Must be a team player
  • Some weekend and evening work required during peak athletics seasons
