Who We're Looking For - Email Marketing & Product Manager
The Email Marketing and Product Manager will be a part of a strategic and enterprising team that’s responsible for evolving the email and SMS channels into a personalized and targeted content experience for our readers. This is an outstanding opportunity to contribute to a key area of growth for the company. The ideal candidate has email program management and strategic experience within the digital media industry, with the strong ability to play a leading role in product management of our email and SMS channels, supervising the entire email/SMS campaign lifecycle. This position will have a laser-sharp focus on acquisition, LTV, and metrics/targets, optimizing all elements to scale efficiencies and growth for this revenue stream.
What You'll Do
- Builds and executes strategies to drive audience acquisition and engagement
- Optimizes tactics and strategies to increase lifetime value and metrics
- Leads product monetization efforts with revenue/sales/media buying teams to manage and implement branded revenue campaigns
- Collaborates closely with account management leads to ensure client expectations are in alignment with campaigns, executing with the team to fulfill agreed-upon targets and client goals
- Drives the development of new products to meet demands of target audiences and market monetization opportunities
- Collaborates closely with editorial leads on content strategy and product development
- Crafts strategies to promote emerging native products to our audience databases
- Develops strategy for sophisticated omnichannel reader journey workflows using automation, dynamic content, and trigger points to optimize reader engagement and retention
- Serves as the lead liaison with third-party technology platforms, performing vendor research and evaluation as needed
- Serves as the internal SME on related 3rd party APIs
- Follows competitive market and industry developments closely and leads discussions with cross-functional teams about potential impacts and opportunities
- Supervises the day-to-day publishing and analytics functions of the team
- Manages an Email Marketing Specialist
What You Need
Technical Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
- Strong business acuity and grasp of corporate business plan and critical metrics
- Strong automation platform skills
- Hands-on experience with inbound and lifecycle campaigns and solid understanding of the digital media landscape
- Sharp digital analytics skillset, specifically tracking engagement, LTV, conversion rates, and funnel analysis through Google Analytics Suite
- Ability to adapt to and learn new SaaS and CRM technologies
- Solid technical capacity with regard to database hygiene and attributes
- HTML/CSS with experience in email specifically
- Marketing automation platform experience
- Salesforce, Marketo, Eloqua, Iterable experience preferred
- SQL experience, Tableau experience, and/or GA certification preferred

- Effectively manages 3rd party resources to ensure contractual terms and services are delivered
- Provides company-wide thought leadership for your platform, presenting product updates and strategies at least 2x/year in company meetings
- Runs quarterly product review sessions, updating key partners on product health and quarterly planning
- Provides exceptional customer service to internal partners and executive team
- Efficiently acquires and allocates resources to achieve team goals and support product business plan
