The Ideal Candidate


The Email/SMS Marketing Coordinator is responsible for the successful coordination of the operational details of Email & SMS marketing campaigns. In this role they will assist in the production schedule of general marketing and trigger emails, facilitate email QA and deployment, support for audience testing and targeting, and daily communications with internal cross-functional teams. The successful candidate will need exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, strong communicator and collaboration skills, the ability to work independently and as a team member, and adherence to deadlines with consistent follow through. In this position, they will have a high-level of cross-departmental coordination Creative, Marketing, Buying/Product, and Digital Site Merchandising, while maintaining daily operations with the Email Service Provider.


How You Will Make An Impact


  • Project PlanningManage the day-to-day operational process workflow for Email & SMS for Journeys, Journeys Kidz, and Journeys Canada email programs including:
  • Track production milestones to ensure timely delivery of campaign assets
  • Proactively manage projects, schedules, and priorities to ensure issues are resolved and decisions are made to meet timelines
  • Address and resolve product issues, campaign timing conflicts and communicate decisions to stakeholders
  • Facilitate the QA process by reviewing and approving all campaign test emails, providing approval for deployment and ensuring flawless execution of all campaigns and test scenarios
  • Review email deliverability performance in order to establish benchmarks and inform decision-making on future campaigns
  • Manage and execute additional marketing programs as assigned
  • Partner closely with Email Service Provider and cross-functional teams including Creative, Buying/Product, and Digital Commerce to plan and launch daily emails ensuring on-time asset delivery and email approval


  • Project ExecutionOwnership for email marketing campaign enablement and strategic guidance of the implementation process.
  • Work with all appropriate internal and external partners to ensure projects move through lifecycle smoothly and on schedule QA’ing emails and ensuring that creative, subject lines and preheaders, send time, audience, etc. all meet original plan and continue to match the strategy. Specifics include:
  • Email tag management and assignment of alt text and link titles to images, CTA’s, and corresponding URL’s
  • Assign tracking nomenclature for UTM’s, ESP and Google Analytic tracking tags
  • Thorough validation of email asset details including subject lines, pre-headers, links, and images sending QA’d emails for internal team review and approval
  • Confirm and assign audiences, schedule, and deploy daily emails
  • Future support for personalization initiative by assisting in the execution of dynamic and targeted campaigns


  • Proactively resolve problems and roadblocks communicating as appropriate to stakeholders and manager to keep email process flow on schedule and timely resolution of issues
  • Reporting And CommunicationParticipates in the development of communications and insights documentation with the ability to present data in a meaningful way
  • Maintain, update, and distribute weekly communications calendar agenda and notes
  • Maintain, update, and distribute monthly email strategy calendar
  • Maintain, update, and distribute seasonal product turn in document


  • Maintain and coordinate proper communication process and timelines between email marketing and various teams. Including but not limited to: Monthly email strategy, email SOP, and product selection for marketing emails


Experience And Skills You'll Need To Have

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 1 - 2 years email marketing production experience, preferably within a retail or like setting
  • Strong knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with CAN-SPAM Compliance
  • Email Service Provider (ESP) exposure preferred
  • Basic knowledge of Google Analytics
  • General skills with testing and analytics with the ability to draw conclusions
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong project management skills: ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines, in a busy fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to influence and persuade others with diplomacy and tact; work with numerous partners of differing levels, flexing interaction style as required
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills; ability to work independently
