This newly created role is critical within our global marketing operations function and will drive the strategy, efficiency and effectiveness of our email marketing and marketing automation channel.

Key Relationships

This role reports to the VP, Global Marketing Channels, Operations and Analytics.

Key stakeholders: Chief Marketing Officer, SVP of Marketing Operations and Customer Experience and VP of Customer Experience and Activation, Regional Marketing – EMEA, Asia, LATAM, Group Benefits Marketing, MIM Marketing, RIS Marketing, Regional and Business Unit Leaders, Data, Technology, and Sales, for planning, problem solving and optimizing our programs.

Key Responsibilities

This role is responsible for leading the strategic planning and oversight of multi-channel marketing automation and email programs. Responsibilities include:

  • Create a modern, data-driven, customer-centric, and performance-oriented marketing channel for multi-channel digital campaigns that leverage automation and email.
  • Develop and grow our email marketing and multi-channel marketing strategy and team in a way that delivers meaningful customer experiences and efficient business outcomes.
  • Design and project manage our B2B and B2C email and marketing automated campaigns based on business requirements from our key stakeholders and the business.
  • Prepare user-journey flows and data-layering requirements for our Technology development team to ensure proper triggers and marketing attribution are in place for automated campaigns.
  • Establish and advise on best practices that drive engagement from our prospect and customers, based on campaign learnings globally for B2B and B2C audiences. Ensure recommendations can be easily adopted by regional and product teams with measurable efficiency gains.
  • Evaluate and optimize our marketing technology for email marketing. Align platforms to audience segment type and business requirements.
  • Lead the governance program for platform performance, data hygiene, CRM, and other app integrations.
  • Standardize the templates within our marketing automation platforms based on audience type to ensure proper brand, legal footers, preference centers/opt-outs and overall best practices for email engagement design are in place.
  • Establish benchmarks for our emails and automated multi-channel campaigns that focus on ROI as well as standard delivery, open rate, click through rate benchmarks.
  • Review reports and work with our Technology team and vendor to establish scorecard results and recommendations for improving always on campaigns.
  • Provide the thought leadership and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that we develop creative ways to measure and optimize across our channels, including web, apps, social media and email designs and engagement.
  • Collaborate with brand, corporate marketing, customer insights, product, technology, and business stakeholders to help ensure alignment between strategic priorities, business objectives, and measurable outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development of knowledge management, workflow, and operational excellence. Improve team productivity and speed of launching best-in-class multi-channel campaigns.
  • Lead monthly overview and learning sessions with our global team on what’s working well and advise on the roadmap for optimizing our programs and platforms.
  • Develop and coach teams on advanced subject matter and operational excellence for marketing automation platform.
  • Educate and inspire collaboration across design, marketing product, technology, and sales.
  • Attract and retain key talent and contribute to creating a culture and DNA of a modern, performance-driven marketing organization

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field preferred.
  • 8+ years of professional experience managing and leading multi-channel marketing automated campaigns.
  • 8+ years of experience managing marketing automation programs for Marketing or Product; Marketo for B2B and Salesforce Marketing Cloud or Adobe Campaign preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience working within, and web applications for data integration, campaign set up, monitoring and reporting.
  • Proven track record of driving business results and marketing attribution is required.
  • Deep understanding of both strategies and tactical performance levers that drive performance marketing and lifecycle marketing
  • Proven track record of collaboration with cross functional stakeholders, business peers and team members
  • Agile Marketing experience

The wage range for applicants for this position is $121,500 to $161,800. This role is also eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation incentives. MetLife offers a comprehensive benefits program, including healthcare benefits, life insurance, retirement benefits, parental leave, legal plan services and paid time off. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
